Dry Out Apple Seeds To Plant Them

Grow your own apples.

If you’ve ever wanted to skip a trip to the grocery store and just pick a fresh apple in your own backyard, you should consider planting your own apple tree. To accomplish this, you’re going to need seeds to plant. While some stores do sell apple seeds to plant, a cheaper and more hands-on way to plant an apple tree is to take the seeds from an apple you’ve just eaten. But to do it right, you’re going to need to know the correct way to dry out the seeds before planting them. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Eat an apple down to the core. Make sure it’s a variety of apple that you prefer, since it’s that variety that may someday be growing in your backyard. Keep the core of the apple when you’re finished.

2. Remove seeds from the core of the apple. Once the seeds are dried, you will plant multiple seeds in separate seedling trays to give yourself a better chance of growing a healthy tree.

3. Place the seeds between two paper towels to remove most of their moisture.

4. Set the nearly dry seeds on a new paper towel. Place it in your refrigerator for about a day until all the seeds are completely dry and ready to be planted.
